Seven prize-winning works of the International Competition of GICB2015 from the KOCEF collection on display
Founded in 2001, Gyeonggi International CeraMix Biennale (GICB) has established itself as a truly global event, and the International Competition representing GICB has proven instrumental in divining the latest artistic trends in world contemporary ceramics and in discovering and supporting numerous promising young artists the world over.
The International Competition affords an opportunity for artists working in ceramics-related fields to become globally acclaimed. In 2015, it was an open competition in which 'anyone' from around the world could enter. At GICB2015, the International Competition received 2,629 entries by 1,470 artists from seventy-four countries.
The International Competition in 2015 also focused on diverse attempts to confirm a more constructive future and values of ceramic art. Through three rounds of screening procedures, the eleven jurors, renowned persons in the field from both home and abroad, selected ten artists capable of leading ceramics in the future.
This special exhibition presents seven prize-winning works that were selected from among 2,629 entries to GICB2015. Although GICB2015 is closed, we hope this exhibition will serve an opportunity for viewers to feel the enthusiasm of the International Competition of GICB2015 once again and gain greater appreciation for ceramics.
