Attractive Living Objects
presents sixty pieces by sixteen artists, each of whom is striving to express the precious value of ‘handmade spirit’ in contemporary ceramic design is his or her own unique way.
Under the motto of studios for handmade ceramics, they are all based in Yeoju, the center of ceramics for everyday use in Korea.
Hand-made ceramics, which attract us, are now drawing attention as new living objects reflecting the trends of the modern lifestyle as they are used in various fields such as commercial space, architecture, and interior design, not to mention domestic space.
Unlike industrial ceramics, which are automatically made by machine in a factory, all of the works by these sixteen ceramists are handmade one by one considering the tastes of the user and purpose of each piece.
The minute they are placed in domestic living space, they change the mood of the space and make the user feel comfortable. The more they are used, the more they feel warm and friendly. Even if they become chipped, we can hardly throw them away. This loving is a precious feeling which we can experience only when we use handmade ceramics.
Unlike previous exhibitions which showcased individual works only, this exhibition also features brands, artists, and the identity of each studio, and it suggests the future direction of Korean ceramics anew, which will be led by brand ceramics and brand ceramists. These handmade ceramics, of which the individual artist’s name is the brand name, stimulate our sensitivity and bring joy and comfort even only by looking at them.
They will let you make your living space rich and beautiful with your own design and style.
