The special exhibition HOT Rookies for the Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale 2013 (GICB 2013) features 87 artworks by 20 artists from 8 different countries including the Republic of Korea, Turkey, the United States of America, Germany, France, Spain and Switzerland. For this venue a new method of open participation was implemented by introducing an international online program for artists to apply.

Under the theme of 'Paradoxical Aesthetics' the overall structure of the exhibition intends intercontextuality featuring 20 different solo exhibitions. The special exhibition HOT Rookies showcases artworks based on the 'Paradoxical Aesthetics' of young and promising artists in a period where our psyche, culture and society is becoming fragmented and commodified. It is an opportunity to reflect on our current society and appearance in correlation to the phenomenon of our time.
