The environment of ceramics today is rapidly changing. It is characterized by fusion of media, proliferation of public art, and expansion of genres of contemporary art. Recognizing that now is indeed time for us to ask what ceramics really is and what are its characteristics, the special exhibition Gathering and Diffusion in Icheon intends to seek and suggest the possibilities for contemporary ceramics. Through an exhibit showing the experimentation and challenging spirit of artists from both at home and abroad, this exhibition finds its meaning in extending the inside and outside of ceramic art and establishing a base of ceramics for the future.
