'All roads lead to ceramics'
Opening an another decade, Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale 2011 attempt the "CeraMIX Biennale" as it aspires to open an era of fusion through ceramics.
Exploring its potential to transcend the boundaries of nations, cultures, and genres of art and break the limitations of ceramics, CeraMIX Biennale will offer more opportunities for the public to participate in the biennale by promoting exchanges between the artists from countries all over the world.
CeraMIX Biennale will also explore new potential of ceramics alive and breathing in everyday life through fusion of ceramics with all other genres of art such as high art and crafts, and music and performance art.
What we regard as the most important is to perpetuate the Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale.
In order to establish the biennale held in the three cities of Icheon, Gwangju and Yeoju as a new cultural event of the times, all three venues are being recreated as theme tourist attractions about the future of ceramic art.
Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale is a laboratory of imagination where high art and everyday culture are dissolved.
